Adjusting On-the-Fly

– Posted in: Tutorials

There are no epiphanies in this lesson, just solid examples of rABC- and ‘mechanical-trade logic when applied to some of our favorite trading vehicles. There is a forced trade in the E-Mini S&Ps that produced a very quick, theoretical profit of $800 in real time. This gambit was interesting because the rally we shorted extended well above the level where we’d originally planned to do the trade.

Staying a Step Ahead of Trading Machines

The algos and probably even a smattering of droolers have finally caught onto “our” ABC patterns, but too belatedly to make good money with them. This lessons shows how we are continuing to stay a couple of crucial steps ahead of the pack. One way is to look for ABC patterns so gnarly that we alone can see them The problem is, it’s getting to the point where the patterns have to be extremely gnarly to work. The opening minutes of this session show graphically exactly how gnarly.

Reading a Chart’s ‘White Space’

– Posted in: Tutorials

We’ve talked before about the ‘discomfort zone’, mainly in the context of what other traders likely feel when a stock stabs into a void engulfed by a chart’s white space. In this lesson we consider what might be called a ‘disorientation zone’, which is what we Pivoteers feel when the stab is into the white space between Hidden Pivot levels. The lesson ends with an experimental trade that produced a quick profit of $350. For the record, it triggered at 4495.50 (1:05 pm.) off a 4497.25 high tied to a well crafted rABC pattern.

Discipline Meets Horse Sense

– Posted in: Tutorials

This lesson focuses on some subtle observations we made as the E-Mini S&Ps ascended toward a potentially important target, a Hidden Pivot with gnarly DNA. The rally proved to be a minefield for anyone trying to get short, even those of us with a very precise idea of where a top might occur. During our 70-minutes together, we were able to combine discipline and horse sense in ways that make this one of the very best sessions in the tutorial library.

The Virtue of Simplicity

– Posted in: Tutorials

An important strength of the Hidden Pivot Method is its simplicity. The recent success of several E-Mini S&P trades posted in the chat room suggests that it would be quite difficult to improve on the results, even using a very sophisticated system. This lesson focuses on a few Hidden Pivot basics, including our workhorse ‘mechanical’ set-up that has proven its value time and again with flexibility and, yes, forgiveness.

Love Those Sloppy Seconds!

With ‘mechanical’ trades, the more times a correction pounds on the green line, the less likely a bid there will turn a profit. The opposite seems to be true with rABC trades, since a second trade initiated after the first has been stopped out (often profitably) tends to do even better than the first. In this lesson, we examine this seeming paradox while also looking at a few more ‘textbook’ set-ups using both ‘mechanical’ and rABC techniques.

More ‘Reverse’ Set-Ups

– Posted in: Tutorials

Once again, we pondered ‘reverse ABC’ set-ups, which are proving subtle enough to get us into trades that don’t risk butting heads with the crowd. Finding and leveraging the ‘discomfort zone’ continues to be the focus of these set-ups, and there are some good examples here of how this is best accomplished.

Mastering the ‘Reverse ABC’ Trade

– Posted in: Tutorials

‘Reverse abc’ trades have supplanted ‘mechanical’ set-ups as our workhorse, in part because they attract less attention. A second factor adding to our edge is that we can tailor the a-b interval precisely to our needs, further obscuring the abc character of the pattern. This is what we should always prefer: constructing and using ABC patterns that give us entry triggers and risk-management levels that others do not see, much less exploit. Accordingly, this session focuses almost entirely on rabc entries, with some subtleties to move you up the learning ladder.

Avoiding Tom, Dick and Harry

– Posted in: Tutorials

‘Reverse abc’ trades continue to function as our workhorse now that every Tom, Dick and Harry has begun to exploit conventional ABC patterns all the time. They are seeing the same things we have seen for years; and, having belatedly discovered how to use them, rendered them nearly useless. Fortunately, our instinctual feel for the markets has allowed us to avoid this trap by using entry strategies that continue to evolve. Herewith, another lesson to further that goal.

The Discomfort Zone

– Posted in: Tutorials

I’ve mentioned the “discomfort zone’ in the chat room as a place where all of the best trades tend to happen. This lesson explores this new concept and frames it in a way that can take easily your trading results up a few notches while greatly multiplying daily opportunities. It is one of the most idea-intensive sessions I have presented to date.
