Options chatter, FYI

Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)13:09  RickMore of you are approved than I had imagined. I will put out some recommendations that assume anyone who follows them knows the risks and how-tos. For starters, short expiring MSFT 360 puts for 0.90, stop 1.01. They are currently at 0.80 and rising. //UPDATE 1:28 Cancel the order, since the stock has breached (my) p2=365.33. // I do not want to weigh myself down with detailed explanations each time I put out a trade. IN this instance, though, and FYI, the pattern I was using is: 30m, A=379.32 on 11/30. I was shorting puts on the prospect of a bounce from p2=365.33. However, the slight breach is sufficient to suggest MSFT's fall will continue to D=361.22. I will offer no addl instruction, but you can short puts if that target is reached. Time of day should be factored into your decision. If you run the options on a 30-min chart, you'll see that they would trigger a 'mechanical' buy on a drop to x=0.53 (stop 0.39). Do you understand why a print above 0.85 or so would negate that trade? If not, u shouldn't do it. The short at 0.90 could still work, but, as noted, I don't want to get into the business of splitting hairs on these naked-short trades. You will need to know what you're doing, as opposed to blindly following my advice.13:45  RickWith just a smattering of Hidden Pivot knowledge, and using some of the system's simplest tricks, most of you are already equipped to trade options more profitably than the charlatans who purport to offer option advice. (I do not include in that group the Najarians, Charles Cottles or Tom Sosnoff.) Virus-free.www.avg.com

Potential call-option jackpot-er, good till the close (This could also pan out on the opening tomorrow, but I am not suggesting that you attempt it then)

Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)14:15  Roxygroovebottom fishing some Goog tos.mx/47jvndv a=140.16, b=137.04, c=139.73, Dec 1 138 strikes, @ $.4214:17  Formula382Rick, great call on TLT. I didn't post as I don't like to wear the room out but I went pretty large in TLT this morning in my models, up nearly a buck on the day! [ Nice trade! Glad those HPs are working for ya. RA }} ]14:42  Roxygrooveout with tight stop on goog, very minimal loss. will wait a tighter time frame to form another rabc, and wait for a true X entry15:0015:19  RickRoxy, did you notice that the 138 PUTS were a screaming buy on the opening at 0.31, two cents off the intraday low, before their price septupled? (a=3.05 on Nov 17).15:28  RoxygrooveNow, that I look back at that, yes... and wow. I was fixated elsewhere this morning, but that little fishing lesson is appreciated. thank you,15:35  RickWhy don't you make it back buying calls when the stock hits 136.03? I'll let you figure this one out for yourself, but it's all on the 15-minute chart. I hesitate to make it an overnighter because that will cost me a lot of edge, but it would be a no-brainer if there were another hour left in the day.15:38  RickAww, screw it. Put in a sttink bid till the close for 138 calls at 0.15. That is two cents above p2 of the bearish option pattern. Virus-free.www.avg.com

Some red meat for all of you shameless option junkies….

Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)13:10  RickHere's one for you option junkies -- 98% of my subscriber list, as far as I can tell. It is a low-risk play predicated on MSFT's NOT getting to the 440 target. In this case, p2=376.29 would be the most logical place for a trend reversal other than at D, so we'll try to get short there. My choice is the Dec 1 350 puts for 0.35. I'll spare you the thought process that led me to those puts at that price, but it's partly based on a 15-minute chart for the puts themselves, paired with a gut feeling about how low they could trade if MSFT pops to p2=376.29 by Friday. Don't do this trade unless it matches my guidance exactly. I am thrilled to see that Daniel K took an interest in p2 even before I did. Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)12:10  EWIs 4158.50 ES Rick's target) still a buy?12:12  RickNo change. TI=8.50 now possible. // 12:20: So-far low at 4154.25 implies 4162.75 trigger. 12:22: Tightening trigger to 6.50 pts = 4160.75 // 12:24: If the little brick can't get traction here, it'll be on its way to exactly 4131.75, an HP support that looks even more appealing for bottom-fishing (30-min, A= 4362.25 on 10/19 at 1:30 p.m.) Virus-free.www.avg.com

ES-Mini S&P guidance for night owls

Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)21:22  RickES is plummeting tonight toward the 4158.50 target I posted this afternoon at 14:35. If you've made some bucks on the way down, and if you know how to craft an rABC trigger, use some of your profits to cushion a stop-loss for bottom-fishing. If you use an rABC trigger, the interval should be 19.50 points. The pattern is gnarly enough that an alternative TI of 12.25 points might work, but caveat emptor. {Please note that I of course rickismed the point 'A' high, and the actual target is two ticks lower, at 4158.00.) Virus-free.www.avg.com

Potentially actionable option trade in ‘Don’t be evil’

Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)10:19  RickGOOG making its way toward the 142.11 rally target billboarded here yesterday. I'd hate to trigger a stampede, but you should look at the expiring 145 puts @0.40, with a nickel of discretion. This is good till noon EDT, since time premium will be melting away with appalling speed. Virus-free.www.avg.com

Update on our lovely Dead Meat trade

Recall that this Trading Room recommendation was specifically designed to help recent trial subscribers pay for a full year's subscription to Rick's Picks.   09:42  entisasABNB put has doubled since entry. Are we closing out the first tranche?10:0010:17  RickThat was not my instruction, Entisas, but at this point everyone who bought puts on Dead Meat is going to be a winner no matter what course they follow. Officially, though, I'll stick with IceMan's progress reports, since he did the trade exactly as I'd specified. This trade has extended the winning streak for option trades recommended in this room to, um.. does 46 consecutive trades without a loss sound right?                Virus-free.www.avg.com

Important note concerning today’s spike in T-Bond rates

– Posted in: Notifications

Actionable Trade-Alert from Rick in the Trading Room (Please check all related discussion in the room before you do any trades.)10:00 10:09  RickRates on the 30-year have topped this morning precisely at the 4.81% target that was the subject of this week's commentary. Together with the dollar's very precise turn yesterday from an equally important target, we could be seeing a major turn here. If so, we should expect downtrending abcd patterns in both to reach or exceed their 'd' targets. However, if these small, corrective patterns reverse from their respective 'p' midpoints on charts of varying degree, then the dominant respective trends are likely to reassert themselves. I would then use a 4.98% target for the 30-year that comes from the weekly chart. I seriously doubt that the long-bond rate will go higher than that, since the pattern on the weekly chart is so clear and compelling. Virus-free.www.avg.com
